Debussy & Poe
November 20 & 21, 2009, 8pm
@ French Institute Alliance Française's Florence Gould Hall
55 East 59th Street, New York City
Claude Debussy was commissioned by the Metropolitan Opera to compose operas based on stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Though never orchestrated, the
composer's piano sketches remain a little-known treasure. On the bi-centennial of Poe's birth, OFNY, in collaboration with FIAF, presents Debussy & Poe: The Devil in the Belfry & The Fall of the House of Usher, an original multidisciplinary opera, conceived by Jean-Philippe Clarac and Olivier Deloeuil.
